Technical Assistance
Laclede Gas Company’s Utilization Engineering representatives can offer you practical advice and technical assistance concerning codes and standards, along with valuable resources on a wide range of industry issues. Further information on these issues is included below:Natural Gas Pipe Sizing
Sizing natural gas distribution piping systems can be challenging, but there are resources available that allow qualified contractors to perform the task according to proper natural gas code. All natural gas piping systems must be sized according to the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 54 National Fuel Gas Code. Click here for more information on NFPA 54.
There are several comprehensive engineering software programs that incorporate the NFPA 54 Requirements for the sizing of natural gas piping systems, including Elite Software.
HVAC Design Tools
Building system design has reached a new level of maturity, and attention is focused now more than ever on equipment performance, energy efficiency and sustainability. With that in mind, Laclede Gas Company has partnered with Engineering Software International (ESI), Inc. to offer HVAC Design Tool software. This program enables engineering designers to perform the calculations required in their daily activities in considerably less time (thereby significantly enhancing their productivity). The Programs currently available include the "basic package" necessary in any design engineering office to provide the maximum usefulness, maximum benefit and greatest time savings. It is ESI's intent to continually expand the program offerings, ultimately providing every calculation one would need in the design of an HVAC system. Click here to get started.
